Rio de Janeiro

We decided to fly into Rio as Isabel’s parents were coming to visit us in Brazil and we had the chance to store our bike with our friend Anastácio in Florianópolis. We were really looking forward to this little “holiday from our trip”!

The city of Rio de Janeiro blew us away immediately. It is difficult to grasp the atmosphere of this huge place and it is even more difficult to put it into writing but Rio is an incredible city. We felt that, whilst the city still showed its roots of ancient fame and tradition, it also was a modern and very vibrant place.

We spent 5 fantastic days in Rio enjoying the most delicious meat, beautiful city beaches, visiting the old town, Santa Teresa, the Corcovado and Sugarloaf and listening and dancing to Samba and Bossanova beats in Lapa.
